Six spots we love on... Foo Ming Street and Pak Sha Road

Cat Kiely checks out a few often overlooked Causeway Bay buildings to find some cool and funky shops

1 Heaven Please
Walking into this funky shop almost feels like you’re walking into Lady Gaga’s wardrobe. It is quite literally ‘heaven’ for fashion aficionados and those who dare to be a little different. Think punk-metal-meets-antique-chic. There are so many gems scattered around the shop that you won’t be able to leave without one of them. We couldn’t take our eyes off the Gaga mouse ears and an emerald cloche-style hat. Heaven Please also just released its second collection under its own label. 2B, Po Foo Bldg, 1 Foo Ming St, 2311 9533; www.heavenplease.com

2 Pray
Pray is a mixture of trendy clothes and jewellery. The shop is filled with tables and racks packed to the brim with vibrant, colourful and rocker-style pieces. It looks like a bedroom belonging to an 80s fashion addict. Expect to find big, chunky necklaces, gothic earrings, clothing pieces with unconventional silhouettes, electric colours and lots of chains and spikes. 2C, Po Foo Bldg, 1 Foo Ming St, 2882 6803; www.facebook.com/prayhk

3 Sunseeker Australia
Sunseeker Australia offers great pieces from simple, unadorned bikinis to ones with bold patterns embellished with jewels, lace and feathers. They also sell great wraps for the beach in lots of colours and patterns, trendy beach bags to match, flip flops and hats. It is sophisticated without being pretentious. A perfect spot to visit as the summer and junk season kicks in! 1/F, 16 Pak Sha Rd, 2887 1855; www.sunseekerswimwear.com

4 Voulez Vous
Voulez Vous carries collections from upcoming local and international designers and is a boutique that can only be described as unique. Expect to find neon, frills, plastic and your standard quirky handbag – adorned with a print of cats’ faces, of course. Don’t be scared away though – there are also some more low-key pieces to be found among the racks of eccentric threads. 3/F, 18 Pak Sha Rd, 2833 0938; www.facebook.com/vvoulezvous

5 Café Dream On
This charming little café, hidden inside Po Foo Building, is a chilled-out spot with earthy tones and a country feel. There is a long list of coffees, juices and other drinks to choose from, including mint coffee, chocolate slush and peach tea. Pasta, sandwiches and smaller snacks are another feature on the menu including yummy homemade desserts if you’re not too full! The café has an open air balcony where you can sit and listen to the hustle and bustle of the streets of Causeway Bay below. Rm L, 1/F, Po Foo Bldg, 1 Foo Ming St; 2504 1137.

6 Off The Wall
A very cool, street-style boutique. Expect quirky jewellery and accessories, bold, psychedelic prints on T-shirts and dresses, necklaces and rings with Barbie and Ken heads fixed to them and shoes with skulls for heels. It’s undeniably ‘off the wall’, but this is a spot not to be missed – even if it’s just to take a gander. 4/F, 18 Pak Sha Rd, 2499 9839; www.offthewall.com.hk
