Restaurant Week Hong Kong 2015

Fine dining gets affordable during Restaurant Week 2015, with over 100 participating restaurants offering specially-designed set menus for lunch and  dinner.
__

For 10 days (Feb 27 - Mar 8), restaurants are offering two set-priced menus each, depending on which category they fall under. The good news? Menu prices are even lower than last year.

In Category A, lunches are $198 and dinners are $418.
In Category B, lunches are $118 and dinners are $328.

All set menus include a minimum of three courses, though most have more. And since the menus have been created exclusively for this event, you can be assured of a unique dining experience.

This is the week for you to be adventurous. Book seats at a snazzy, upscale place for a special occasion, or sample a cuisine you wouldn’t otherwise try. With a wide variety of restaurants on the participant’s list, there’s plenty for you to choose from.

Here’s a few of our top picks:

La Table de Patrick
La Table de PatrickA French restaurant with passion and authenticity, the namesake of Founder and Chef Patrick Goubier offers diners an unparalleled opportunity to experience ‘cuisine bourgeoise’ – a style of elegant but down-to-earth gastronomy, which celebrates both gourmet delicacies and home-cooked favourites. During Restaurant Week, the special four-course dinner menu will include a ravioli of potatoes with foie gras and a sea urchin custard with dashi jelly. For the main course, a New Zealand venison fillet with morello kirsch gravy is one of the choices on offer. Then, let your sweet tooth choose one of two delectable desserts for a perfect finish.
$418. 6/F, Cheung Hing Commercial Bldg, 37-43 Cochrane St, Central, 2541 1401;

Fofo by el Willy
Fofo by el WillyFor a taste of contemporary Spanish cuisine, stop by Fofo by el Willy. Besides the quirky interiors (penguins everywhere!) and modernist philosophy, Fofo delivers on its promise of excellent food. For this 10-day event, it is serving up a mouth-watering feast of inventive tapas just for you. Among the dishes offered is the ‘paletilla’ Iberico ham shoulder with tomato bread, and the ‘cochinillo’ crispy suckling pig with black truffle. The item that is not-to-be-missed, however, is Fofo’s signature seafood paella, which is generously laden with fresh treasures from the ocean.  $418. 20/F, M88, 2-8 Wellington St, Central, 2900 2009; fofo.hk.

Check-in Taipei
Fofo by el WillyIf you think you know everything about Taiwanese food, think again. This eclectic restaurant enlivens the usual Taiwanese stand-bys with a hybrid menu inspired by Western cuisine. So you can try unusual dishes like the chicken waffle crispy pork knuckle beef taco, or the seven layered rice. For the traditionalists, there’s the good ol’ Taiwanese satay prawns and beef noodle to tide you over. And if you’re there for the dinner option, grab a complimentary signature cocktail from the drinks menu to get the most out of your deal.  $328. G/F, 27 Hollywood Rd, Central, 2351 2622; checkintaipei.com.

2015 marks the biggest, baddest edition of Restaurant Week yet, with many up-and-coming restaurants (including new Michelin-star winners) participating. And since prices are low, there’s no reason not to give it a try.
