Gear up for Splash, one of the clubbing parties of the summer. James Bien gets in the mood for some pool-based fun

Like pools? Like parties? Like superstar DJs? You’re gonna love Splash Vol 8 then! Hot on the heels of Splash Vol 7, which tore up the Hard Rock Hotel Macau just a couple of weeks ago with DJ Kaskade and Danny Avila on the decks, Vol 8 brings the party back to the Hard Rock’s poolside in the City of Dreams on July 20. And the lineup is similarly impressive, with three top DJs crankin’ it up under the sun. Expect one of the most memorable parties of the summer, with amazing music, go-go dancers and a poolside bar. Still not convinced? Check out DJs Borgore, Junior Sanchez and Datsik’s credentials then. We’re sure you’ll pretty quickly make up your mind…

Borgore
To say Borgore is an innovator is an understatement. Not only is he the founder of the Buygore record label but he’s also a pioneer in a growing genre he calls ‘gorestep’, which combines his heavy metal roots with dubstep. Since his first release in 2009, Borgore has been churning out hit after hit. His most notable works include Decisions, a visionary collaboration with controversial pop artist Miley Cyrus, dubstep hit Incredible featuring up-and-coming DJ Carnage and remixes of songs by artists like Britney Spears, MIA and Cedric Gervais. In the past year, Borgore has headlined the bass stage of Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago and performed on the main stages at Ultra Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, bringing his signature bass-heavy style to audiences across the globe and he’s just released his newest EP Legend, which has wicked grimey beats. He’s sure to get the party going swimmingly at the Hard Rock.

Junior Sanchez
Junior Sanchez’s production and remixing skills have long been in high demand with pop heavyweights like Madonna and Katy Perry. His DJing career started at the tender age of 15, but with strong determination and an unbeatable work ethic, his craft has been undoubtedly refined since then. In fact, having transformed the house genre and music in general throughout the years, he is deemed one of the most forward-thinking veterans in the industry. Junior was propelled to international fame and recognition with his 1999 release of club hit, B With U, featuring disco diva Dajae. Since then, he has also produced highly praised remixes of songs such as Gorillaz’s Dare and Madonna’s Jump. When he’s not producing Beatport chart-topping hits or remixing for some of the biggest names in the business, he plays at clubs all over the world, delivering his progressive house stylings to cross-generational fans.

Datsik
Datsik has made his name known in recent years through collaborations with dance music veteran Diplo on the tracks Pick Your Poison and Barely Standing. However, the dubstep DJ has proven himself to be one of the most visionary artists in the genre in his own right. In his latest full-length album, Vitamin D, Datsik co-produces a number of tracks with psytrance duo Infected Mushroom, mashup pioneer Z-Trip, as well as Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. Since his first release in 2009, the hardcore rap fan has integrated his hip-hop and garage roots into his music – a sound he describes as a ‘complete bastardisation of electronic music’. Datsik has played at Coachella, Shambhala Music Festival and Ultra Music Festival. And he’s coming to a pool party near you…
