Rugby Sevens ticket ballot

Are you a rugby fan? Or, perhaps, you’re someone who loves to dress up in costume, drink copious amounts of beer and dance around on the terraces of Hong Kong Stadium while rugby brutes get into the action down there somewhere on the pitch? Well, either way, the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union has just launched the public ticket ballot for the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2014 tournament. That means you could be getting your tickets to all the fun – pretty soon.

A total of 3,000 tickets to the big tournament, which takes place between March 28 and 30 next year, are being made available to the public via the ballot – which ran for the first time for this year’s Sevens and was hailed as a success – with the rest going to Hong Kong rugby clubs, stakeholders, participating teams and overseas. Participants in the ballot can apply to purchase tickets on a ‘per-day basis’ – Friday, Saturday or Sunday – creating up to 9,000 chances for balloters to get a place at the games.

So, rugby or revelry fans, what are you waiting for? Registration has now opened and will close on January 15, with the ballots taking place on January 21. Ticket prices range between $200 for the Friday games to $650 for Saturday and Sunday’s clashes. Register at
